New York: What happens when you're craving for your juice smoothie fix but forgot your cup? A good choice would be Juice Generation! (DISCLAIMER: Bringing your own mug/container is still the best thing to do, but I've decided to recommend some choices that are alternatively better than others.) Generation claims that they're committed to being social responsible, and you can see their sustainabilty and giving back projects on their website here.
So why do I recommend them? There's a lot to like, from sustainable, organic, healthier options, etc. But let's start from their slogan(s)!
"Greener Juice. Our cups are made entirely from plants – not petroleum."
Why is this? Let's start from their cups and straws. First off, their cups are plant based, and straws are paper! But obviously this is a pretty weak reason, since it's not really debatable whether this is good to the environment. (It not. is it better than plastic? maybe, but since it doesn't decompose... avoid it.) But here's when it gets sweet.
"Smoothie With Benefits. Sweeten the deal by picking up one of our glass mason jars and get a discount when you bring it back for a refill."
Bring your own mason jar and get a discount! I'm not sure if Generation allows for non-mason jars (your own cup), and given the recent COVID-19 outbreak, using your own dinnerware/mugs/whatever has been a sensitive topic. I call bullshit on some of it, but I do agree there is the fear of contamination and maybe food / salad bars. But your own mug? Eh. Anyway, bring your own is the best! You also get a discount!
Super Bowls. Ask for your bowl to be served in one of our organic coconut shells. Bring it back for a refill and receive a sweet discount.
Pretty self explanatory, when your shell reaches its lifespan, compost it!.
Make Compost, Not War. We compost more than 1 ton of fruit and vegetable pulp every day.
Now this is something I can get behind. Below is their menu, prices skew toward the higher side, but if you want to support organic, it's not too bad.
What else? Generation promotes local and organic! Sure, you can be skeptic by how much of the products are local, but they do try and you can see where the apples are sourced from. USDA organic is a pretty big plus, since for all of you who don't know, you can trust when you see the certification.
So next time, I suggest choosing Juice Generation when you have that crave! till next time!
