Milk! I've been trying to reduce my dairy intake as much as possible, but occasionally I still enjoy adding some milk in my coffee, or a lil bowl of cereal. So what are my options that can minimize the impact to the environment? If you're in NY, you're in luck!

Wow! There's plenty of options to get milk in reusable milk jars! Most (if not all) are sold with a $2 deposit, which you will get back when you return the empty milk container. I found Ronny Brook Diary Farm at Whole Foods, and it was no hassle to get the deposit back at the customer service kiosk. Ancramdale Ronnybrook is a good choice to support local, grass fed, hormone free milk!

You can also find King Brothers Diary at a lot of NY locations. Check out their website here for more info on retail locations near you! King Brother is also a NY local farm, a family run business that is produced, bottled, and delivered by them. There milk is also hormone free and antibiotic-free, so that's a big plus!

Last but not least, is South Mountain Creamery!  They have a much larger footprint across the East Coast, available at Maryland, New Jersey, New York, etc.. you can also search for locations at their website shop locator. I stumbled upon them when browsing around a random supermarket in Brooklyn, so I haven't tried them out yet!

So although I believe we should all be reducing our dairy intake, start choosing from local, independent farmers, that provide healthy milk while minimizing the impact on the environment! It's a great feeling when returning the bottle, which will be shipped back to the dairy farms and reused again!
