Here are a couple events I attended that I felt were worth sharing! It'll be cool to be back next year!
Grounds for Change: Coffee, Dairy, and the Regenerative Agriculture Movement
Held at the California Academy of Science, this panel was hosted by Clover Sonoma, and on the panel was Kiss the Ground, a nonprofit that works on regenerative agriculture, Beretta Family Dairy, a dairy farm that works with Clover that uses methods like no-till, rotate grazing, and manure composting. Lastly is CalCan, the California Climate & Agriculture Network, that provides assistance to lead agriculture towards a system that is increasingly resilient and just.
It was great to hear the various things they were doing, but unfortunately they didn't leave enough time for a QA. The dairy industry is a big carbon emitter, so it was great hearing the things they were doing to become more holistic, but I kinda wished they let us (the audience) roast them a bit on the difficult questions. But overall, it was a great event!
Climatebase: Virtual Climate Job Fair
This was a Zoom event where different companies that are looking to fill positions talk about their company and the openings! It's great for anyone looking for a job that is climate based. Most of them our tech-related, and it was great to listen to the companies talk about how they're tackling climate change and how you can be a part of that.
Moving San Francisco - Documentary Screening and Panel
Gasp! Will we finally have nice things? Is high-speed rail actually going to become a reality? Good news: THEY'RE BUILDING IT. Bad news: It'll still take a while.
The event kicked off with a documentary screening, Moving San Francisco, which delved into the rich history of the city's public transportation system. Following the film, a panel discussion explored the challenges and opportunities facing public transit in the Bay Area. It was heartening to hear so many dedicated individuals in the public sector working tirelessly toward a more robust and sustainable transit system, despite the complex hurdles posed by federal policies and funding constraints.

2025 Earth Day Festival & Green Business Expo
There weren’t many vendors, but I really enjoyed it! Held at the comfortable Yerba Berna Gardens, I picked up some bamboo floss, spoke with a financial advisor who manages green-focused portfolios, and learned about high-speed rail. It was a great opening event! Highly recommend to anyone that goes in the future, it's a great opportunity to talk to like-minded individuals
Nice.car
One of the standout features was the impressive "nice" car—such a brilliant concept! (Nice = No Internal Combustion Engine) They take vintage cars, which often have simpler wiring, and convert them into electric vehicles. This process exemplifies upcycling at its finest: modernizing existing structures instead of manufacturing new ones. The founder estimates that converting a car uses 80% fewer resources compared to building a new electric vehicle. Additionally, many components that are still in excellent condition are salvaged, preventing them from ending up in the junkyard or landfills.
