Seattle is a city deeply rooted in sustainability, with numerous community gardens, food forests, and co-ops that promote local food, mandatory composting.

One of our favorite cities!
Community Gardens & P-Patch Program
Seattle boasts a strong community garden program that is supported by both nonprofit and public resources. All gardens are open and accessible to the public.
Seattle Department of Neighborhoods' P-Patch Program oversees 90 P-Patches located throughout the city. Community gardeners grow food on 14.9 acres and provide stewardship for an additional 18.8 acres of public land for a total of 33.7 acres.
The gardens are well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. Many offer on-site composting, rainwater harvesting, and accessible garden plots. We recommend visiting the Beacon Food Forest, the largest community garden in Seattle. It's a great place to attend an event and connect with locals!
Seattle Tree Walk app
This one is pretty cool, if you like trees, go for a tree walk in Seattle!
Update: Unfortunately the app seems to be unmaintained, making it hard to use. But it's still useful to check the various tree walks available.
Food options in Seattle
Groceries
Central Co-op is a great option for groceries in Seattle. They sell a wide range of organic produce and products, has a decent sized bulk section. Support local co-ops is a great way to support the area. For just $100 USD, you can buy equity!
It's one of the few grocery co-ops that is a Solidarity Cooperative. (Meaning Consumers and Worker shares are an equity investment)
Another place we can suggest is PCC Community Market, (also a co-op) . Unfortunately closed their downtown Seattle location so we haven't been yet, as they're more spread out in the area. (If you happen to have one near you, check them out and let us know what you think!)
Pike Place / Farmer's Market
Probably everyone will go to Pike, but I'll still leave it here. It's 100% worth the visit despite being a Tourist spot.
For Farmer's Markets, the Capitol Hill Sunday Farmers Market is a small but solid choice. You can check this website for all Seattle Farmers Markets!
